The automobile revolution talks about the car revolution. In 1950, the number of cars doubled from 30 million to 74 million. 4.5 cars were junked every year during the 1950s because Detroit car makers encouraged consumers scrap their old cars. The interstate highway system was a supporter of the highway. it was 41 thousand miles of four lane roads, it needed 16000 entrance ramps and 55,000 bridges. the grand cost totaled around129 billion.

Saving Private Ryan assignment

Saving private Ryan is a movie that is set in WW2 time. Captain John Miller is the leader of the eight men who were dispatched and sent on a mission to find private Ryan and return him home. The beginning scenes were of the gruesome battle that took place in Normandy. the 8 soldiers that were on the mission to find Ryan becomes frustrated because it seem like they were on a wild goose chase. they didn't know if Ryan was alive, dead, or behind enemy lines.

Cpl. Timothy Upham

Timothy seemed to be the most interesting character of them all. I admired how he spoke a total of 3 languages (English, German, and French) was able to communicate with many of the people that captain Miller's platoon encountered. He seemed to be the one of the most effected by the war and he constantly froze. cpl.upham is a straight headed guy and follows the rules. he is very moral and compassionate, because, to me, he seemed like he viewed the Axis Power soldiers as people, humans.

How Would I Have done in the war?

I would not have done well. watching that movie helped me realize how gruesome these battles were. But, then again, you never really know how strong you are until you are in a situation that requires strength.

Political Cartoon and Why we entered the war

This political cartoon is a representation of the german u-boats.

Some reasons as to why the United States entered the war

The united states got involved in WW1 because of many factors. the first factor is the German's submarine warfare with the uboats. the Uboats failed to issue warnings and this tactic reinforced americans beliif of germans being uncivilized. another factor is the Zimmermann note or telegraph.this was a note written in 1917 by a german diplomat proposing an alliance with mexico. the russian revolution propelled the alliance with russia. America was concerned about being allied with the czar, czar nicholas the second. with the czar removed from power, america was able to ally with this nation. and lastly, but certainly not least, the sinking of the Lusitania. the Lusitania was a british passenger liner traveling in the irish sea when it was then sinked by the german uboats. there were 1200 passengers and 128 americans were among the dead.

New Jersey v T.L.O

  • This was a violation of the girls 4th amendment right because she was not secure in her persons- in this case her purse. this was then proceeded by the violation of a search and that lead top the seizing of the young lady's purse.
  • The principal could in fact, act upon his suspicion when in a public school environment. there are rules that are implemented in a public school that differ from police protocol. so Choplick had reasons and suspicions to search and from what he found- the authority to confiscate the entire purse.
  • She had been in the bathroom with another student probably smoking. to make sure the students story lines up he searched the T.L.O's purse. choplick has the right as an official to search if there is reasonable suspicion that a crime has been or is in the process of being committed, or reasonable cause to believe that the search is necessary to maintain school discipline or enforce school policies.
  • The supreme court should have found the student guilty on all counts.

Labor Unions

the Knights of Labor was one of the most influential labor unions founded by Philadelphia tailors. the time period of labor unions was also known as the gilded age. Thomas Hobbes once stated that life among these workers is poor, solitary, nasty, and brutish. many jobs were created for women so the number of employed women went up drastically. women didn't get management positions, even if they were qualified.

Ku Klux Klan

The Ku Klux Klan were an extremist group. They tortured and executed men who were black, homosexual, Jewish, catholic, in the broad daylight. state officials who were associated with this extremist group were generally elected and used as a card to escape from consequences. the acts of terror in their own country was a clear indication of a flawed belief. The part of the movie that saddens me the most was the innocent church- going girls who ultimately burned to death. Although it is safe to have your own beliefs it becomes another ordeal when deciding to act upon these extreme beliefs. The KKK is said to have started as a social gatherings but it grew into something horrible that words can not fully describe.
